G Metz Moving Inc

I have moved probably over a dozen times in my life, and using G Metz Moving was easily the worst moving experience of my life. I could write an entire essay, but I will summarize instead:

– They estimated it would take less than 6 hours. It took 15 hours.

– They showed up with no moving tape, so we had to go out and buy approximately 9 rolls. They also did not bring enough or the correct tools to dissemble the furniture, and had to borrow ours.

– They ran out of boxes. The “manager” Patt said he could bring boxes to the house in less than 30 minutes from their warehouse, but this took over an hour, wasting more time.

– When Patt arrived, we were already quickly approaching or over the original 6 hour estimate. We asked for another estimate, which I believe was 9 hours, and was also completely incorrect.

– There were two crews, one packing the basement and one packing the first floor. When the basement crew was done, they simply stopped working, got into their trucks, and sat there. The first floor crew was mad at this, so they called their boss to complain. The boss then apparently called the crew sitting in the truck, who got out and proceeded to get into a screaming match with the first floor crew on my lawn. I was paying for the privilege of getting to watch grown men scream at each other in my lawn.

– Neither crew did a walk around with either of us after they were “done” packing. They missed a ton of items, including the entire contents of the fridge and some extremely sentimental items, such as my wife’s wedding dress. They also left their own trash, such as soda cans and coffee cups.

– When we arrived at the new house, one of the trucks smashed into one of the trees in the front of my property, breaking off a huge limb and a ton of smaller branches and pieces. They acknowledged they did this, but didn’t offer to clean it up or anything. This remained for 4 weeks, after which I had finally had enough and paid someone to clean it up.

– The “manager” Patt again showed up at the new location, and said 2 more mover were coming to help out as we were running very late. Not only did 2 more movers not show up, but 1 mover left shortly after this to go to his other job, leaving us with 3.

– A large number of boxes were unlabeled, which required them to have me open it, look at the contents, and decide where to put it. Isn’t labeling a box a fundamental part of moving?

– Disassembled furniture parts were scattered across many different rooms, and not kept together. This made reassembly by myself the next day extremely annoying.

– I could not find my 2 couch legs for over 2 weeks. I ordered 8 new legs just to get these couches functional again and mentioned this to Patt on a phone call, who actually said to me “Oh, we found those on the truck the day after. Do you want those back?” … yes Patt, I wanted my furniture legs back, thank you.

– I am still unpacking, and still finding broken items. All of my bathroom cleaning supplies were thrown into a box, where a bunch of them broke and leaked all over each other. Car oil and windshield wiper fluid containers were placed upside down in boxes. Worst of all, I found an acoustic guitar amplifier that looks like it was quite literally dropped off of a truck, and then hidden in the back of my basement so I couldn’t see it. One side is completely broken. When I asked Patt about this, he told me to email him pictures for reimbursement. I did, and he never responded.

– On the night of the move, Patt took down my credit card number. He told me he would call me the next day and we would discuss everything and any discounts he would give me before he charged me. The next day, he never called. The day after that, I saw the charge hit my credit card. I have discussed this many times, both with Patt and the owner George (who simply told me to talk to Patt), and they will not change the amount they have charged me nor discuss any discounts.

I could go on and on, but there are my major complaints. I would give them 0 stars if I could.

I used them 3 times in the last two months to move 3 uncles out of our family home and into separate assisted living or senior communities.

Joey and Angel did 2 of the moves and Angel and someone else did the 3rd.

The first two I under estimated the inventory when getting the quote and it meant longer moves than they expected (one by an hour or so and the by about 2 hours). Joey and Angel were great and even helped me get something huge out of my car each time.

The 3rd move I gave a much better inventory and it went smoothly.

There was one hiccup the first move, they charge an hour for travel, ok no problem. The guys were instructed to add 30 min to the start time and 30 min on the back end and then the app they use added another hour. I called the office and got the extra hour refunded. After that I checked each time and their app is definitely designed to add an hour after you certify the time so make sure that they aren’t adding it twice!

Everyone was great to work with and available relatively last minute (each moving day was booked within a week once I had official confirmation from the establishments the guys were good to move).

Overall I was pleased!

Manager at at Store Space. I just had the pleasure of meeting Jose and the rest of the two truck crew that helped moved a tenant out of his 2 storage units. This group of men were efficient, courteous and an overall great group of movers. Thank you & a job well done.
