Don’t walk, run, run away, as far and fast as you can!!! We paid over $15K to move 2 bedroom suites, one couch, 2 chairs with ottomans, 2 coffee tables, assorted office furniture, a handful of other items, and many boxes halfway across the country. We did not move any dining room furniture, washer/dryer, refrigerators or other typical larger household items. While the price seemed exorbitant for the amount of stuff we were moving, that was NOT the biggest problem. The big problem was the state of our items on the receiving end. First, we were missing the “parts box” which included the feet to our very expensive couch and the finials for our 4 poster bed (for insight as to the significance of this… we inquired into having new ones hand-turned for us and it was going to cost over $1300!). In addition to the missing box, many, many of our things were damaged or destroyed, including some very expensive items such as a custom-made piece of pottery (valued in today’s market at around $5000) given to us as a wedding gift and several irreplaceable family heirlooms. We opened box after box only to discover that more than half the items (very carefully packed in bubble wrap and paper and padded if very fragile) were broken. Based on the state of many of the boxes (crumpled and some with holes and/or half opened) it would appear that the movers literally threw the boxes from one truck to another (they used a smaller truck to initially load our stuff and then transferred it to a larger truck for the cross-country move). I have moved 9 times in my adult life and packed the boxes myself on several of those moves and have never had one packed item broken. Fortunately, we did pay extra for full-value replacement insurance. What we didn’t realize was that we were going to have to estimate how much broken items cost which is difficult to near impossible for older items (antique in some cases) and for things like the finials on our bed. The claims process was very, very arduous, but I persevered and finally received a not insubstantial check; however, the check was not really enough to cover all the items that were destroyed or lost. The whole experience was extremely distressing. I can’t emphasize strongly enough to steer clear of the Carey moving service. I’m just thankful that I paid a different company to move my grand piano. I shudder to think what they might have done to that!

I recently use Carey for a move several states over. Chris was my rep and he was wonderful, unlike the other guys, he came to my home to quote the move. He took time and consideration when explaining the process. They also used a tag system to ensure nothing is lost. At a time when life was super crazy, they took a big concern off my plate. They packed the truck, stored my items for 4 weeks, delivered them, AND relocated a vehicle for me. Mike at the office was excellent in communicating with me during the process and Jason took great care both times he moved my belongings. I highly recommend these guys!

I vetted several companies for my move before deciding on Carey Moving and Storage of Knoxville. They are affiliated with Allied Van Lines. I confess I was a bit unsure when I was referred to Carey instead of Allied but then understood Carey would handle the local move. The estimator was responsive and accurate. When my house went under contract much sooner than expected moving up my move date, Carey’s team worked hard to find me a slot on very short notice. They arrived on time. They were clean, focused, and good listeners. I had been told my painters needed a couple of extra hours but would be done in time. They weren’t. I immediately called the Carey office, spoke with Tracy and was assured the management team and movers would work something out. As a result Carey’s moving team moved a few key pieces (my bed, some chairs, a bureau, and lamps, and boxes) into the house – enough for me rough it comfortably for a couple of days and arranged to come back Saturday to move in the remainder. The situation was unusual, very stressful. Throughout it all, everyone on the Carey crew, office and management was compassionate. They worked hard to develop a solution. Though the situation was an unhappy for me one due to the painters, the experience with Carey was wonderful. They went above and beyond-which these days seems to be an overworked sales phrase. I am here to tell you, they truly provided me with a great experience. I hope I never, ever, have to move again, but if I do, they will be the only movers I call. I would and will recommend them to everyone.

Carey Moving and Storage- Knoxville handled our cross- country move expertly. From the in-house estimate to the friendly and professional packers and loaders, we knew that we were in good hands. Mike kept in touch with us during our cross-country drive to be sure we knew what to expect and our load was delivered as expected. Carey Moving also arranged for the transport of a car, which also was delivered undamaged and in a timely fashion. Very highly recommended!

The crew and David did a great job on a 3-hour pack up of 60 boxes and 69 items of furniture. They were on time, efficient, and courteous throughout the move. I felt they took special care with our hardwood antique furniture and other fragile items and were careful not to damage carpets or walls during the move. Some items were being left for a later move, and all crew members made sure they understood which those were. David communicated well regarding the inventory, process, and next steps. I highly recommend Carey as a mover.
