Defender Self Storage – Lorain

I purchased the unit under the claim that I would have 24 hour access. I was given the access code and a backup. I explained i was driving in from out of state and arriving outside normal access hours. When I arrived, my code and the backup would not work. I wait in the parkinglot until office hours. I called and talked to customer service. They provided me the same code and backup I had already tried. I then tried the codes again for all three doors and still recieved an “Invalid code” message. Customer service said a manger is the only one who can open the door and that person wouldn’t be available until 7am. They would not call me back. I had to call them. I waited another hour in the parkinglot. Called exactly at 7. I waited on hold for 15min before talking to the same customer service rep. She reached out to the manager and couldn’t get ahold them. She said she would call me back. After not hearing anything, I called back at 8 and she said she had reached out to the manager and the manager could not help. I tried the code again and the door finally opened 2 1/2 hours after I showed up. This is unprofessional and really ridiculous. I would not recommend doing business with this company.

I highly advise, and beg no one to ever deal with this storage facility, I had a storage unit here for at least four years and things were alright, for the first 3 years then all of a sudden they got new employees’ that I did not know and that is when my nightmare began. I received a strange call from the business; stating that my storage unit did not contain a lock. then a second call followed claiming that I threw all my trash in a empty storage unit. At that time those crazy employees’ should have known something was very wrong but, instead they did no investigation whatsoever, and I drive two and a half hours to find my whole designer shoe collection gone my high end purse collection and name brand clothes as well as expensive antiques and collectables, that were priceless because, I inherited them from my mother and father are all gone. My entire storage unit had been emptied out. they took all my most expensive merchandise and through the less expensive merchandise in large piles in a much larger storage unit. This low down company has never apologized let alone, offer compensation but, I won’t let the year end without filing a lawsuit.
