Inexperienced, Unprofessional, unorganized, poor business practices is what I experienced with this company. I booked this moving service over the phone, as what I thought would be the 3rd & final estimate for a 3 hr move. I spoke to Jr. who recorded a list of items for the job but refused to visit to see what needed to be done. Because of the poor materials used in packing, Inexperience in disconnecting a refrigerator, not following my instructions. The move cost as much as the 1st estimate, LM & Sons who have more experience better packing materials & business model. Mel Jr. change the start time twice. Didn’t introduce himself at start of job. Didn’t follow directions to start upstairs until I secured pets, now pets are missing. Didn’t shut off valve before disconnecting refrigerator water line. Poorly wrapped furniture w/o padding, unloaded items in storage unit thrown on top w/o care, stacking books on top of boxes marked fragile, causing hundreds in damage , including water damage to the ceiling. fragile glassware. bed frames, etc.. & not filling insurance claim. Items supposed to go to dump were found in storage. This company is trash & operating with a lien on it’s bond.
I recently used Mel’s Moving and Deliver Services for a last minute move that was needed. They were able to provide me with immediate service at a very affordable rate. The customer service was exceptional, as they kept me updated throughout the entire process. If I had a question or concern, their support team responded promptly and professionally. Overall, my experience with Mel and his team was outstanding, and I will definitely be using them in the future. Highly recommend!
Junior was amazing. He arrived early, was respectful, and very professional. He and his team take great care with valuables and are willing to accommodate specific requests in a timely manner. He even went out of his way to help remove some extra items from our house, and even helped give suggestions on other items. Everything is removed and transported safely. Pricing is very reasonable. Definitely would recommend Mel and will be using this company going forth in the future.
I called two companies in Baldwin Mel moving and 4 Life movers. Both had great reviews but 4 life movers had a cheaper price and and extra mover so I went with them. I had already booked Mel moving but called them within minutes of booking to cancel. It turns out 4 lifers contracts work out to Mel moving company and one of the 2 movers from Mel moving must have been the man I spoke with on the phone. I didn’t know this until the end of the move but he clearly knew it was me and seemed to take it extremely personal that I went with another company, he took this as an opportunity to make a 4 hour job an 8 hour job. I was annoyed at the end because I ended up paying double what I was quoted. He proceeded to give me and my husband a speech about how it’s a small world and you can’t base your decisions off of price alone (mind you both companies had great reviews) he continued on about how if we booked Mel’s moving they would have never taken a minute over 5 hours and trash talked the 4 life movers who were the only two moving things. It was the most unprofessional and weird encounter ever. I’m not cheap by any means in fact I still gave a generous tip. My decision when booking was based on reviews man power and price, clearly Mel movers takes business way too personal. I definitely wouldn’t recommend based off my experience.
Mel and his team did a great job with packing and moving the contents of our house. They even visited to provide a quote within 20 minutes of my initial phone call! Received the quote the same day. Would highly recommend. Thanks!
