Terrible experience! Completely mismanaged time, not enough workers and so many broken things!!
We recently hired Square Cow Movers to move us from South Austin to Chicago. I don’t know how everyone else has such positive reviews as our experience was TERRIBLE!
1) No time management – On both loading and unloading day, the movers said they would be at our house between 8-9am, but they did not show up until after 10am. They then had to stay at our house until 8-9pm to finish both days.
2) Not enough workers – They had 3 guys helping in Austin to pack and load a 4 bdr, 3000+ sq ft house. They only sent 2 guys to Chicago to unload everything. 2 GUYS?! My dad (who needs a knee replacement) was unloading the truck, putting together tables/beds and my husband was carrying 100 lbs boxes and they still didn’t finish until 9pm at night. I felt horrible for the workers. They were working their butts off, but it was WAY too much work for 2 people.
3) Poor packing and no care for our items – So many examples of this. Throwing a computer monitor in a box with no protection, my dried bouquet of flowers from our wedding just thrown in a box and towels shoved on top of it (completely ruined), prints folded and shoved in a box with no protection, stuff literally stuffed in boxes with no care
4) No attention to detail or organization – They left so many items behind. Me and my dad had to go back and pack boxes. They threw items in random places. I couldn’t find anything as we were unpacking
5) Ran out of supplies. They ran out of boxes and pads. They used blankets of mine and my sons precious baby blankets to wrap stuff. They had nothing to cover the carpets, so there are dirt tracks all over our carpets
I’m not going to name the names of our guys because they worked SO hard. They were not setup for success by the company. We were grossly overcharged for the service and care that we received. They made an already incredibly stressful process even worse.
Best moving experience ever. Everyone from the first phone call was, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient.
Large POD unloading – entire move only took exactly 2 hours, as quoted. No time was wasted, the team hustled and even better… did not damage anything!
The only movers I’d recommend.
I had an amazing experience with Jamal and Jesse! They were fast, efficient, and incredibly respectful throughout the entire moving process. They called ahead to let me know they were on their way, arrived on time, and handled everything with great care. Their professionalism and friendly attitude made the whole experience stress-free. If you’re looking for reliable movers who go above and beyond, I highly recommend them!
I chose (for an elderly friend) Square Cow for a complex move from U-haul storage in Austin to storage near Dallas. Their fixed-price policy ultimately saved her a lot of money compared to the other bids (reasons below).
Square Cow handled many hundreds of old boxes and delicate multi-generational items (including a piano) with great care. Items were packed in new boxes only as needed. The packing crew, headed by Robert with Julio and Tyrone, finished well ahead of their own estimate. Prize to Tyrone for carefully packing those two valuable, delicate items. We were watching!
The loading and delivery crew (Paul and Deandre) were complete pros. Square Cow’s original estimate included the possibility of needing two trucks for this move. However, Paul and Deandre were able to load the boxes, furniture and other items such that they (barely) fit onto a single truck. THIS SAVED MY FRIEND THOUSANDS (both bids from the other companies required two trucks). At delivery Paul and Deandre took 5 hours (included in the fixed price) to carefully unload the truck into two large storage units. They created a storage scheme on the spot that maximized access to the items stored.
Nothing was broken. The elderly lady who owned these items was very, VERY worried about this move, and both teams patiently helped her get through the process, allaying her concerns. Every man on each crew introduced themselves to us and were very friendly throughout. She generously tipped the crews after each crew completed their assignment.
On the phone Shaun answered all my questions across several calls.
Kevin captained and helped both crews in Austin without charging us for his labor, including refusing a tip. His management led to a friction-free experience. He provided the kind of customer interface any company would kill for. He even took a minute to help another old man at the Austin U-haul who was struggling to lift a heavy filing cabinet onto his pickup. The world needs more like him.

Dennis, Rob and Zach are a great team! They arrived at the scheduled time, carefully wrapped and moved all of our furniture quickly and carefully and even disassembled and carried a Murphy bed downstairs and reassembled it for us! They were polite and patient as we decided how to place several pieces. Highly recommend this company and especially this team! A++
